• Sight Words:

    What is a sight word?
These words are the words that your child will most frequently encounter while reading and writing. Many do not follow the common phonics rules so memorizing them is the most effective way of acquiring these words.

    Why is this important?
The larger your child's sight word vocabulary is the more books they will be able to read fluently and proficiently. This will allow them to devote their energy while reading to decoding words they do not know and focus on the information or meaning of the words. This leads to better comprehension.
