In Read Naturally, students will have an an opportunity to read stories on their independent reading level.
They are able to read stories while listening to an audio recording that models appropriate fluency.
They then practice reading the stories out loud by themselves and then with a teacher.
What does it mean to be a fluent reader?
Rate: Do I read toooo slooowwww or do I read too fast?
Expression: Do I read with the character in mind? Do I change my voice for question marks and exclamation points?
Accuracy: Do I read the words correctly or fix mistakes as I make them?
Phrasing: Do I read in proper phrases?
Punctuation: Do I pause for commas, periods, exclamation
points, and question marks?
