     Take a Break Space

Court Street students are expected to follow all classroom rules during their music time.  Students who make poor choices, are always given one friendly reminder to help get their behavior back on track.  Students who continue to break rules will be asked to go to one of the "Take a Break" center.

"One Minute Take a Break" - after a verbal reminder, students will sit out of an activity for one minute to think about the rule that was broken.  Students will be welcomed back to the activity if they demonstrate they are ready to make good choices.  Any student at this center will have their name recorded by the teacher.

"Take a Break for Feelings" - students will be asked to sit out of an activity for three-five minutes to think about a rule or rules that were broken.  This center is specifically for students who are having trouble controlling their emotions.  Students will be asked to identify their emotion, select a strategy to calm down, possibly complete a reflection form, and then return to the activity.  Students may also choose to go to this center if they feel they need to take a break.  Any student at this center will have their name recorded by the teacher.
