It’s hard to believe that it is time to start thinking about coming back to school in September. Our first day of school is on Thursday, September 6th. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to our class. Our room number is 208. It is on the second floor above the kindergarten rooms. We will spend Thursday and Friday getting supplies organized, reviewing classroom and school procedures, and participating in “getting to know you” activities. Here are a few important things you may find useful before the school year begins.
I’ve been busy preparing my website for our class this year. . http://www.lancasterschools.org is our district’s website & my website is located under the Como Park School tab. Please check it out! I’ll add our schedule, important documents, pictures, and more throughout the year.
Enclosed is a COMPLETE supply list for the school year. Please remember that many items may need to be replenished or replaced from time to time. You may find it helpful to stock up on extra school supplies at home so that your child can readily replenish items as needed. Como Park is having a supply drop off on September 5th from 10-1. If the day/time is not convenient, your child may bring in supplies on September 6th & 7th.
TAKE HOME FOLDER:
This year your child will be bringing home a folder that will be used daily to pass along important papers and homework from school to your home. Students will have a copy of their schedule in the folder.
We will have time for a snack each day. Veggies, fruits, crackers, granola bars, and pretzels are all good choices for snack.
Thank you for supporting your child and my program throughout the school year. I am looking forward to a fantastic year in 1st grade!
Dear Soon-To-Be First Grader,
Hi! My name is Ms. Kuras. I am very excited to be your first grade teacher! You may remember seeing me in the hallways and at PTO events last year. This is going to be my 6th year teaching at Como Park, and my 20th year teaching!
Do you have favorite things that you love to do? I sure do. I love swimming, gardening, traveling and reading. I’m in a book club with other Lancaster teachers. We get together once a month to talk about the books. My son, Noah, is going to be a 9th grader at Lancaster High School. He loves playing soccer and hockey. I can’t wait to hear all about your family and the things that you like to do!
I am so excited for this school year to begin! I know we’re going to have terrific year learning and making new friends. Como Park has so many awesome school events! My goal is for you to learn and grow academically while having FUN! Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I’ll see you on Thursday, September 6th. I am looking forward to a fantastic year in 1st grade!
