• An interview with Mrs. Farrar!
How long have you been teaching?
This is my 28th year of teaching!  I taught for 3 years in Cleveland (many, many years ago!) before moving to Buffalo.  I taught 3rd and 4th grade at Hillview Elementary from 1994-2002.  I transferred to William Street in 2002 to teach 5th grade there.  I decided to move again to the AIS Department in 2006 and stayed until 2017.  Then, I transferred to Como Park Elementary to work in their AIS/LEARN Department.  I am enjoying Como park! I also teach Graduate Reading courses at Canisius College.
    Do you have any children?
Yes - I have a son who is 16 and is in 11th grade at Lancaster High School and a daughter who is 18 and is a freshman at SUNY Oswego.  My husband also teaches at William Street!  He is a fourth grade teacher and his mom teaches at Court Street!
    Do you like teaching Reading?
YES! I LOVE IT!  I really like working with small groups of students and focusing on the skills and strategies of reading.  When I work with small groups, we get to spend a lot of time digging deeper into the strategies and learn about all that goes into making a life-long reader!
What are your favorite books to read?
I like all kinds of books.  But I think I like mysteries the best.  I love when I can't figure out what's going to happen next and when I am surprised at the end!  I still like to read "picture books" too.  I love to look at the beautiful, and sometimes funny, illustrations.
