MUSIC Night will be on May 9th at William Street Elementary.
Students who are interested in playing an instrument next year MUST pick 3 instruments they would like to play. The ONLY exception is if your son/daughter has been taking lessons on an instrument.
The William Street music teachers will collect data from myself and the students to determine which instrument will be the best choice for your child.
Here are the instrument choices...
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet (Bass Clarinet), Bassoon, Alto Saxophone (Tenor Saxophone)
Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba
Percussion (drums & xylophones)
Students should pick 3 instruments based on the following...
1. They like how the instrument sounds (high pitched, low pitched, jazzy, sweet, etc.)
2. They like what groups the instrument plays in (orchestra, band, jazz band, marching band, garage bands etc.)
Please do not let your child pick an instrument because "it looks pretty" or because "it's cool".
Go on YouTube with your child to listen to beginner instrumentalists. It will give them an idea of what they can expect to sound like next year if they practice. If you have any questions feel free to give me call 686-3235 ext. 2126
