Parent Information

  • Students are selected to receive Math services based on:

The NYS Math Exam cut points:  NYS mandates that all students are eligible to receive Math AIS services if they fall below the designated "cut point" for their grade level.

    • If your child is in 4th Grade and received BELOW a scale score of 298 on their Math assessment, they are eligible to be in AIS.
    • If your child is in 5th Grade and received BELOW a scale score of 306 on their Math assessment, they are eligible to be in AIS.
    • If your child is in 6th Grade and received BELOW a scale score of 301 on their Math assessment, they are eligible to be in AIS.

If your child is ABOVE these cut points, the teacher can recommend AIS services. They would meet with the RtI (Response to Intervention) Team to discuss areas of concern for the student.

    The RtI Team would review:

    • Classroom performance (grades, classwork, etc.)
    • Test scores, both formal and informal assessments
    • Current interventions

The RtI Team would then determine if AIS services would be implemented.

You would then receive a letter in the mail explaining the program, how often the student will receive additional services, and who the AIS provider would be.
