    In ELA class, students will develop critical reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Students will be challenged to think critically and evaluate different points of view. Our units of study will include various novels, expository writing, persuasive writing, and poetry.



    ELA Supplies:

    • 1” three-ring binder with pockets
    • 2 composition notebooks
    • Highlighter
    • Agenda planner
    • 1 Box of tissues



    Homework Policy:

    Homework will be assigned a few days per week and recorded in student agenda planners. It is not meant to be difficult; the purpose is for students to review and practice content learned in school. Homework will be graded for both completion and effort.


    Grading Policy:

    Participation (30% of final grade)

    Classwork (30% of final grade)

    Assessments (20% of final grade)

    Homework (20% of final grade)


    Student learning will be assessed in a variety of different ways to accommodate for different learning styles. Types of assessment will include projects, group work, verbal discussions, and written assignments.
