Lancaster Modified Football
Dear Parents / Guardians:
It is our pleasure to be working with your student-athlete during the fall modified football season. We look forward to an energetic and successful season. Below please find information, which will be helpful to you and your student-athlete.
Practice / Meets:
q The length of each practice will be approx. 2 hours.
q We expect full effort and concentration at every practice.
q Athletes should have a water bottle & all necessary equipment for each practice. (The district will supply Helmets & Pads; the athlete should supply everything else. These items include shorts, t-shirt, molded spikes, jock, and D-ring belt.)
q Athletes should be ready to begin practice 15 minutes after the locker rooms open. Practices are located behind LMS.
q Parents are expected to pick athletes up at the end of practice. THERE IS NO LATE BUS!
q Please be courteous to the coaching staff & their families by promptly picking up your child. Failure to do so may result in your child being removed from the team.
q Athletes are to ride the bus to and from games.
q All practices & games will be listed on the school web page.
Attendance / Behavior:
q Athletes must have 13 practices prior to the first scrimmage in order to participate.
q Athletes must have 17 practices in order to be eligible for the first game.
q Attendance is mandatory, unless an athlete has a legal excuse. If there are special situations for an athlete to be absent, the athlete must first talk with their head coach. An “unexcused” absence means the athlete will not participate in the following game. An absence the day before a game means the athlete cannot participate in that game.
q Athletes shall respect all coaches & teammates.
q Report all injuries to a coach immediately. If you see a doctor, you need a release.
q All athletes are responsible for taking care of their own equipment.
q The athletes are expected to follow all school rules and to pick up after themselves.
q Being part of a team is a commitment. Although we understand that at times conflicts with the practice schedule do happen, we would like to ask that they be kept to a minimum.
q Academics before athletics! If it is revealed that the athlete is not performing, as they should, they will miss practice to seek extra help from their teacher until progress is made.
q If behavior in school becomes a problem, the student will be placed on a 1-week team suspension. If the misbehavior continues then the athlete will be removed from the team.
q It has been a long time tradition that cuts are not made for Lancaster football but, athletes will be removed from the team if any of the following become a problem:
o Academic grades are poor
o Behavior in & out of school is inappropriate
o Practice attendance is irregular
o The athlete fails to actively participate in practice
o Consistent failure to pick up athletes in a timely manner after practices and games.
q The coaches will determine playing time based on skill level, practice participation, and safety of the athlete. All play time issues will be discussed between the coaching staff and athletes only. Athletes concerned about their playing time should consult with their coach, and instructions will be given as to what they need to do to get better.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation, we look forward to a fun, educational, and successful season!
