• Dear WSS Parents,

We will begin a three-week swim unit in physical education,  9/17 (after we complete the mile run) - 10/12 and again on 1/22 - 2/8 . Students are required to bring a swimsuit and towel.  Girls are required to wear a one-piece bathing suit.  Swim goggles are not required but I recommend them for beginning swimmers.  Swim caps or hair ties will also be extremely beneficial for students with longer hair.

If students intend to enter the deep end at any time during the unit they will be required to pass a deep end swim test.  Again, this is not mandatory and only applies to students wishing to swim in the deep end.

All physical education teachers are lifeguard trained and are certified with the American Red Cross.  We also have an additional staff member to assist in pool surveillance while the students are in the pool.  Safety is a top priority at William Street School.  I will spend a considerable amount of time the first class reviewing pool safety rules and procedures.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at WSS at 686-3800 or through email.

    Mr. Frey
