Petitions are available to become a candidate for the board of education. Information packets may be obtained at the district clerk’s office, 177 Central Avenue. Two seats are up for election this year. Board members are elected at-large, meaning the two highest vote-getters will be elected to serve three-year terms from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2016.
  • Candidates wishing to run for the school board must obtain 63 signatures on the petition and file with the district clerk by 5pm on Monday, April 22.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a US citizen, and a legal resident of the Lancaster Central School District for one year prior to the election.

The annual budget meeting of the board of education is on Monday, May 13 beginning at 7pm. At 6pm, board of education candidates will participate in a candidates’ forum sponsored by the Lancaster High School student union. The annual budget vote and board election is Tuesday, May 21, from 7am to 9pm in the high school Java Gym.
