At the April 17 board of education meeting, members unanimously adopted an $91.5 million spending plan that maintains student programming at current levels while remaining within the property tax levy cap limits.

The budget, which carries a tax levy increase of 1.88 percent, calls for an estimated tax rate increase in all three townships, as follows:

Town
Estimated
Tax Rate

Lancaster
$16.12
24¢/$1000
Cheektowaga
$25.99
38¢/$1000
Elma

$4.95

The tax rate increase for all three townships is estimated to be 1.47 percent.

Although not required by law, a board of education may estimate a tax rate under its proposed budget. This calculator provides an estimate, based on information the district used in preparing the 2012-13 budget, which was adopted by the board of education on April 17, 2012. It is difficult to predict the exact tax rate because of currently unknown variables beyond the district's control, such as changes in a  town's total taxable assessed value.
