Dear Hillview Families,
There are many special, culminating events and activities in store for our students throughout May and June. We have the Color Run on May 11th, Kindergarten Screening (May 21st – May 25th) for our incoming kindergarteners, the Third Grade Spring Concert on May 24th, the Kindergarten End of the Year Celebration on June 7th, a Flag Day Ceremony on June 14th, the Hillview Field Day on June 15th and the Third Grade Moving Up Day Ceremony on June 20th. Please note that only pre-registered volunteers will be able to attend our Field Day. Additional information about Field Day will be sent home at a later time. In addition, our PTO thoughtfully sponsors a variety of fun and educational field trips for all students to enjoy from now until the end of June. Please refer to the attached calendars for additional details.
On behalf of the Hillview staff, I want to express how grateful we are to the PTO and to our parent volunteers for all of the time they invest and for all of the wonderful things they do for our students and school. So many families fundraised and donated their time throughout the school year. The last PTO meeting of the school year will be held on May 8th in the Hillview library media center at 6:30 PM. We hope to see you there.
With warmer weather approaching us, classes will be taking turns on both playgrounds. Please ensure that your child wears sneakers to school so that he/she can safely participate in the playground fun. Students are not allowed to wear flip flops, and they will need to adhere to the school’s dress code policy as well. Parents can refer to the Parent/Student Handbook or call the school if they have any questions about the dress code.
We look forward to a fun and memorable conclusion to another fantastic school year. We learned so much, and we modeled great character. Every person in this school community, including students, staff members and family members, make Hillview such a positive and rewarding place to be, to work and to learn every day.
I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable last two months of the 2017-2018 school year. As a school, we wish our third grade students the best of luck as they prepare for their transition to William Street School. They will be missed very much. Lastly, please remember to vote on May 15th in the LHS Java Gym. Have a very happy May and June!
