Welcome to Mrs. DiMarco's Adapted Physical Education (APE) Page!
Adapted physical education is developmentally suitable or appropriate physical education. It is modifying activities, equipment, the environment, and the curriculum so that all students (with or without a disability), can successfully participate in physical education!
According to PECentral.org, Adapted physical education "involves differentiating instruction so the physical activity is as appropriate for the person with a disability as it is for a person without a disability. The emphasis of adapted physical education is to facilitate participation of students with disabilities with typically developing peers in age-appropriate activities" (1996-2016).
In APE, we participate in many of the same activities and sports as in the general education physical education setting. Some activities, however, may change due to gymnasium/pool space and equipment availability.
