Academic Intervention Services (AIS)
This service is provided for students who require extra support in the areas of reading and math. Multiple measures are used to qualify students for these services. Measures include: classroom performance, classroom assessments, Individual Reading Inventories, standardized tests, FastBridge measures and recommendation from the teacher or Student Support Team. Services may be provided by "pull out," taking students for extra support in a separate location outside of the classroom, in a small group or individual setting or "push in", the AIS teacher goes into the child's classroom for extra support during regular class instruction. Students' progress is monitored throughout each quarter.
Levels of support:
Tier 1- Students receive additional support and accommodations from their classroom teachers to help them manage in their classroom without being pulled out.
Tier 2- Students are pulled out of the classroom or a teacher pushes in for a designated amount of time to provide additional support. Usually students work in a smaller group setting.
Tier 3- Student works individually with AIS teacher with specific goals to target.
