Participation in Government is a mandatory 20 week course that gives students an overview of American government and politics.
There are six units covered in the class:
Unit 1: Principles of Democracy & Citizenship
Unit 2: Political Parties
Unit 3: Elections
Unit 4: Interest Groups & Public Opinion
Unit 5: Civil Liberties
Unit 6: State & Local Governments
During the semester, students are also expected to attend a public meeting to gain oversight into how government works.
We also discuss various issues and topics throughout the semester ranging from foregin policy, social issues, current events, as well as the courts and law enforcement.
