Academic Intervention Services (AIS)
What are Academic Intervention Services?
Academic Intervention Services are intended to assist students who are at risk of not achieving proficiency in the Common Core Learning Standards in ELA (English Language Arts) and/or Mathematics, or who are at risk of not gaining the knowledge and skills needed to meet or exceed designated performance levels on state assessments.
Who is eligible for Academic Intervention Services?
New York State mandates that schools provide remedial services to students in the areas of Reading and Math. Students who demonstrate a need for these services, based on multiple measures, can receive AIS services.
When will my child be discontinued from Academic Intervention Services?
Children are discontinued when assessment data from school-wide testing as well as classroom and AIS performance demonstrate grade-level ability.
