Students at William Street School had a chance to kick off the fall as they watched their teachers run a relay race while wearing inflatable suits.
The October 11 event, which brought out teachers and administrators in costumes representing characters like dinosaurs, sharks, a clown and a cow, was an opportunity for students to make friends and memories, but also reinforce the value of community for students. The day, which also included picnic-style lunches for students, was a part of the school’s “Be A Light” initiative, which emphasizes the importance of kindness.
“This is an opportunity for us to appreciate each other’s differences,” said Jacqueline Bull, the school’s principal. “It’s always cool to care.”
Among those thanked for their work creating the event were teacher Alison Camp and the school’s Climate Committee, as well as the building’s custodian and grounds staff members.
