Amy Meshulam
Amy Meshulam Selected as William Street School Assistant Principal

As she began her work as assistant principal for William Street School, Amy Meshulam said she looked forward to meeting students and families as well as building upon the school’s welcoming environment and wide-ranging opportunities.

“It’s a very positive school community,” she said. “Students are really involved. There’s a strong sense of belonging.”

Meshulam, who most recently served as assistant principal at Tapestry Charter School, was appointed by the Lancaster Central School District Board of Education on June 9. She fills an opening left by the ascension of Gregory Heer to become the school’s principal. Heer praised Meshulam for sharing her strategic planning abilities during her interview with the district, as well as her personal values of passion for the work, trust, integrity, communication and relationship building.

"We can safely say that the entire committee overwhelmingly felt that Amy was ready for the job,” Heer said. “She has a wealth of experience and knowledge and is ready to take on the work as we continue to make William Street the best place it can be for our students.”

During the June board meeting, Meshulam said she has taken on multiple roles during her more than 15 years of teaching and leadership experience, including time as a data and instructional coordinator and special education teacher. Board President Michael Sage said that background would help her in the new role.

"Hopefully I'll get to show you exactly how much I know and how excited I am for this opportunity," Meshulam said.
