VIDEO: Andreessen, Buffalo Bills Rookies Help Como Park Elementary Students Vote For Spirit Day

Students at Como Park Elementary School had some surprise help from Buffalo Bills rookies, including Lancaster High School alum Joe Andreessen, as they voted on an upcoming spirit day. More than choosing between “Rightmeyer’s Rest & Recharge Day” and “Dembski’s Day of Yes,” students also learned valuable lessons about letting their voice be heard, as well as good sportsmanship whether they win or lose.

“We want the kids to know that while they are small, they have a voice,” said Constance Tadusz, a teacher aide who organized the event, and is also Joe Andreessen’s aunt. “There will be ups and downs, wins and losses, and it’s all about how you deal with them, and how productive you make those wins and losses for the future.”

The students, who were not aware of the players’ participation prior to Tuesday’s event, cheered loudly as the members of the Bills introduced themselves. Students then took their self-made voter registration to the table, which then allowed them to receive a ballot to vote on one of the spirit days, which will be held in December. The winning spirit day was “Dembski’s Day of Yes,” which will have students lead classroom activities, with teachers encouraged to say yes to students’ ideas.

In addition to Andreessen, other members of the team making the visit included Brandon Codrington, Branson Deen, Cole Bishop, Daequan Hardy, DeWayne Carter, Edefuan Ulofoshio, Frank Gore Jr., Javon Solomon, Keon Coleman, Mike Edwards, Ray Davis, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, Te’Cory Couch, Travis Clayton, Tylan Grable and Zion Lague.

“I would say they were in awe,” said Molly Marcinelli, the school’s principal. “These kids really know this team and they love their Buffalo Bills.”

Thank you to the Buffalo Bills rookies for taking the time to meet our students and staff!
