VIDEO: Court Street Elementary School Walk-A-Thon Brings Cheer, Supports Activities

The cheer was evident for students and families at Court Street Elementary School’s annual Walk-A-Thon, through a cascade of bubbles, a station for hula hoops, and small physical challenges written out on the school’s sidewalk. More than just a fun way to spend a Friday afternoon, the day helped bring families together and support opportunities for enrichment throughout the year.

“They love it, they really do,” said Shannon Bianco, president of the school’s PTO. “They have the opportunity to have parents and grandparents, families greet them, and walk with them. It’s a nice way to start the year.” Bionco praised the work of fellow PTO volunteers that made the September 19, 2025 event possible, including Andrea Desiderio, Alicia and Scott Kocsis, Clara Wroblemski, Christine Besecker, and Patty Sprague. Families raised money at the event through optional pledges, with money going toward supporting field trips and other activities for students at the school building.

Starting on their walk, the school’s K-3 students were greeted with physical activities like spinning, hopping on one foot, or walking like a bear, and socializing tasks like high-fiving a friend. The walk included Lancaster Legends and Buffalo Bills chalk artwork. The event, in place for more than a decade, has brought joy to countless members of the school community. “It’s a Court Street family,” Andrea Desiderio said.
