Lancaster teachers gathered at Lancaster High School for a day dedicated to professional learning, collaboration, and inspiration to support all students during the district’s fifth annual Legendary Day of Learning.
The event featured sessions focused on district initiatives, student needs, and emerging trends in education. Topics ranged from the science of reading and English as a New Language to developing technologies like artificial intelligence. Staff also heard from Lancaster High School students about creating an inclusive classroom culture where every student feels safe, valued, and connected.
The day began with a keynote address from Jillian Hanesworth, the Emmy Award-winning Poet Laureate Emeritus of Buffalo, who spoke about her educational journey and the teachers who inspired her growth.
“When you invest in your students, you are investing in them as a person, you are laying one brick,” Hanesworth said. “One brick for them to be able to stand on a foundation and to do things that they never even thought they could do.”
