How would the propositions affect your household?
Proposition #3
After years of planning, this comprehensive plan was developed to address numerous challenges facing the District; most importantly the issue with pupil capacity. The plan features three facets. First - expand and provide space for existing students and future growth within the District by construction additions at all elementary buildings. Second - relocate the district office from aged facilities to one of the school buildings. And third - continue efforts to upgrade and maintain our facilities with needed infrastructure work.
Scope of Work
Tentative Construction Plan
Expand. Consolidate. Improve.
No Tax Impact Until 2031
Estimated tax increase beginning in 2031: $0.89 per $1,000 assessed value for a period of 11 years.
The 75 Year Problem...
Over the past 75 years, student population has fluctuated, leading to challenges such as overcrowding and school closures. Central Avenue Elementary School has served as a “release valve” during these fluctuations, opening and closing four times, causing disruptions and financial burdens for families and taxpayers.
Proposition #4
The creation of a turf baseball and softball complex on the high school campus with additional parking, provisions for seating, ADA access, and storage is included in this proposition. The spring season is notorious for rescheduled games due to field conditions. Turf facilities enable our athletes to play their schedules, regardless of weather. It also brings our facilities up to par with our competitors.
Also within proposition #4 are needed renovations at the high school including replacement of windows, renovations to classrooms, the weight room, counseling offices, the lecture hall, and replacement of the oldest section of roof on the building.
No Tax Impact Until 2029
Estimated tax increase beginning in 2029: $0.38 per $1,000 assessed value for a period of 15 years.
Our Funding
The District receives 74.4% of a project’s aidable costs back from NYS as building aid. The proposition also makes maximum use of the district’s voter approved capital reserve funds, contributing the full balance of $16,000,000 towards proposition #3. The project costs remaining after state aid and the capital reserve fund are considered the local share.
Proposition #3
$143,700,000
Local share impact starting in 2031 for an 11-year period. Tax rate increases average $0.89 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Proposition #4
$34,300,000
Local share impact starting in 2029 for a 15-year period. Tax rate increases average $0.38 per $1,000 of assessed value.
