    The Lancaster Central School District currently partners with Carousel Academy to provide Pre-Kindergarten services to our 4-year-old students. We offer high-quality learning experiences that set the foundation for educational success. Each day, we strive to build an atmosphere that fosters enjoyment and love of learning.




  • Requirements and Information


    • Based on anticipated state and additional funding, students are selected to participate in the District's Universal Pre-kindergarten (UPK) Program by lottery.  The UPK lottery application for the 2024-2025 school year is now available and is completed online.
    • The UPK lottery for 2024-2025 is on March 19, 2024.  Lottery applications are due by 4:00 p.m.on March 12, 2024.  
      Your child's name will be put on the waitlist if you miss the deadline. You must call 716-686-3390 to be added to the waitlist.
    • Lottery results will be available at the lottery and will also be provided via email approximately two weeks after the lottery.
    • For the 2024-2025 school year, your child must be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2024. 
    • Your child must be the child of a custodial parent who is a legal resident of the Lancaster Central School District.
    • Your child must be potty-trained before school begins.

    • Universal Pre-kindergarten (UPK) classes will be held at the Central Avenue School building at 149 Central Avenue and at Our Lady of Pompeii School (129 Laverack Avenue).  
    • The half-day pre-kindergarten program runs 2.5 hours per day, five days a week.  Classes are offered in the morning (approximately 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) and afternoon (approximately 12:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.). These times may be subject to change.
    • The full-day pre-kindergarten program runs from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., five days a week. These times may be subject to change.
    • The program follows the district calendar for holidays and recesses. 
    • Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from the program.
