"Think Center, Aim Center, Shoot Center!"The Varsity Rifle Team is composed of female and male athletes who are competing at the varsity level against other high school rifle teams in the Western New York area as well as across New York State. Coed Varsity Rifle is the only true coed sport where males and females compete against each other unrestricted. The team shoots competition air rifles. Currently there are 8 Section VI rifle teams who compete in 3-position air rifle, and 30 Shot Offhand air rifle. 3 position competitions consist of prone (laying), off-hand (standing), and kneeling positions. The rifle team is a winter sport that runs from early November until March. Practices and home matches are held at the indoor rifle range located in the basement of the Lancaster High School. We practice Monday thru Friday from 3-5pm. Matches are typically on Tuesdays and Thursday with an occasional match scheduled on a Wednesday. In order to participate in tryouts you will need a pair of clear safety glasses. Once on the team you will need to purchase a shooting glove and foam ear plugs. The school has rifles and equipment for you to use. However, if you prefer to buy and use your own that is another option.ONLINE SIGNUPS are October 4th - 17th. Permission slips are due by October 19th. Concussion impact testing dates are yet to be determined. Tryouts/practice begins November 5th in the school rifle range. If you have any questions please contact Coach Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
