Staying ‘Lancaster Strong’ and Keeping Learning Alive in an Era of Uncertainty
The unexpected onslaught of the COVID-19 global pandemic brought much uncertainty in the early days to our own little piece of the planet.
One thing has remained steadfast and true. The resiliency of Lancaster Pride, Spirit, and Tradition is alive and well and has been what has kept many faculty, staff, and students on our journey of second to none for more than two months now. Here, we present a few photos of peoples’ experiences as we travel this socially-distant road together and collectively agree we can’t wait to see each other again! (And kids really DO love school!)
Please keep that spirit alive, stay in touch. Drop us a note on Facebook or Twitter. Send us your family’s at-home school photos. It helps us to keep morale high as we miss you, one and all!
Families from each school found special ways to show their appreciation for faculty and support staff during various appreciation days and weeks, including these photos from Court Street Elementary.
More than 75,000 meals (lunch and breakfast for the following day) have been prepared, packaged, and some even delivered, thanks to the dedication of staff and volunteers. Our efforts have been augmented, when available, by FeedMore WNY with weekend meals as available.
The Lancaster Central Teachers Association (LCTA) has been showing the love in return by making masks for essential service providers. Hundreds of masks have been made and hours and hours of time and material donated.
The art department has shown their true creativity by assembling a ‘virtual art gallery’ on the front page of our website, www.lancasterschools.org. Please take some time to see how our students are continuing their art studies using materials from home and their profoundly unique imaginations!
