    Dear Hillview Families,

Happy Spring!  The warmer weather has been wonderful.  Our students cherish their time on the playground and being able to play outside and participate in physical education on the sunny days at school.  March was a busy and fun month at school.  I am extremely proud of all of our avid readers at Hillview.  In addition, I am excited to announce the student winners of the March “Parents As Reading Partners” (PARP) reading calendar contest... Kindergarten: Scotlyn F. and Hudson N., first grade: Camille J. and Gavin P., second grade: Brody B. and Emma W. and third grade: Mila E. and Ben T.  These students received an award and will enjoy a special gathering and treat with me after the spring recess.  The contest will also continue for the months of April and May.  Thank you to all parents/guardians for supporting their child’s love of reading.

We also look forward to an additional special and memorable month of April.  Looking ahead, after the spring recess (April 2 - April 11), our third graders will take day one of the ELA state assessment, and we will enjoy a Legends Spirit Week as a school. Students can also wear red and black attire during the spirit week (April 26 - April 30).  We love to see our students showing their Lancaster pride, school spirit and great character.

On behalf of Hillview, we wish your family a happy and healthy holiday.  We look forward to seeing the flowers bloom and the leaves return to the trees.  Most of all, we wish for all of our school community members to remain well and healthy.

The annual Spring Carnival took place throughout the week of March 22nd-26th during school day hours.  Although it took a lot of creativity to make this event work on a much smaller scale and without volunteers, we know that all Hillview students, both 100% remote and hybrid, enjoyed themselves.  A huge thank you goes out to Jaimee Best and to Amber Griggs for organizing the event.

Throughout the week of April 26th, Hillview will celebrate our next School spirit week: Wear Legends and/or red and black attire.  We hope that everyone joins in the fun to show his/her school spirit!

The Hillview PTO will host a Delta Sonic Fundraiser this year.  The dates for this fundraiser are May 3rd-May 20th.  Please be on the look out for more information about this great school fundraiser.  Delta Sonic coupons will make perfect gifts for Father’s Day, graduations, birthdays or for anyone you know who loves a clean car.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: Even though we do not clip Box Tops any longer, you can still use the Box Tops app to scan your store receipt.  At the store, you can find the products that apply to this program and instantly add cash to our schools’ earnings online.  The money that is earned from the Box Tops program helps our students, teachers and school get supplies that they need.

Pre-packaged School Supply Orders will be offered again this year.  Boxed orders will be shipped directly to your home.  More information will be sent out soon regarding the pre-packaged school supply orders.  We thank Andrea Parrag for all of her hard work with these orders.
