In the Spotlight

  • Dear Hillview Families,

Happy New Year!  Our Hillview staff members hope that your family had a peaceful and relaxing holiday season and winter recess.  Even though December at Hillview looked a little different, it still was such a fun and magical month.  We were thrilled that we were able to bring back our in-person hybrid students.  Our staff members worked hard to continue to provide our students with enjoyable, festive and joyful events.  “The Elf on the Shelf” visited the school, and the PTO decorated our foyer with lights, garland and best of all, a beautiful tree.

Looking ahead, many great things are planned for January at school.  Students who are 100% remote at home are always encouraged to still try to enjoy the activities that we have at school while they are at home (spirit weeks are a perfect example).  Pajama spirit week is scheduled for the week of January 19th.  We also have a PTO general meeting using Zoom on January 19th at 6:00 pm.  We hope to virtually “see you” there.  Anyone can join our PTO at any time.  Please send an email to Hillviewpto@yahoo.com for additional information.

A friendly reminder: beginning on January 4th, 2021, Hillview will begin to utilize the “Virtual Backpack” feature on the Hillview website.  All monthly “Hillview Happenings” newsletters, which include our school’s monthly calendars, PTO information, informational flyers, spirit week dates and more will be posted there.  To access the Hillview Virtual Backpack: 1) Go to the LCSD website: “Lancasterschools.org.”  2) Go to “Select a School” and click on “Hillview Elementary.”  3) Under “Our School,” click on “Hillview Virtual Backpack” at the bottom of the list and you will see everything in the virtual backpack.  Please note: paper copies of certain documents will only be sent home occasionally.

We hope that the new year brings much happiness, great health and best wishes to all of our Hillview students, staff members and families!

    Mrs. Moeller

Happy New Year to all Hillview students, families and staff members! We hope you had a joyful holiday break with your families!

Thank you to all who supported the gift card sale this year! Special thanks goes out to Cathy Paluszak and Nicole Luderman for coordinating the fundraiser.  Before the break, Jamene Kosowski and Kelli Dwyer organized the Online Hillview Merry Moose Holiday Shop. We appreciate Jamene and Kelli who made this fun online holiday event happen.  It provided student with a nice way to teach your children about the joy of giving.

The next Hillview Spirit Week is January 19-22, 2021.  Please be sure to have your child dress in their favorite pajamas for in person or remote learning.  The annual Hillview Talent Show is TBD.  If we are allowed to bring larger groups together again at some point, the Talent Show is a wonderful way to let our students shine and share what makes them special.  If we can, once again, hold this event at school, information will be in The Hillview Virtual Backpack.  The virtual backpack can be found on the Hillview Website.  Please see Mrs. Moeller’s newsletter for directions for locating the virtual backpack.

Our next Zoom PTO general meeting is on January 19th from 6:00-7:00 PM.  Information will be on the Hillview webpage and Hillview Facebook page regarding sign in details.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.

On a final note, there is still time to become a PTO member.  Please consider making a $5.00 membership donation, which benefits all the students at Hillview Elementary School!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We look forward to a wonderful 2021!
