Lancaster High School Student Union Earns National Recognition

Lancaster High School Student Union Earns National Recognition

For the 16th consecutive year, the Lancaster High School Student Union received 2021 Gold Council of Excellence Award from the National Association of Student Councils; one of only 9 schools in the nation who have received the award since its inception.

This award recognizes the Student Union’s exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that serve to improve the school and community.  The LHS Student Union is a student government organization designed to serve the entire student body. It is composed of elected representatives from grades 9-12 and one representative from every active student organization. The Student Union generates school spirit, pride, and participation by sponsoring many activities throughout the school year.

“The Lancaster High School Student Union is the definition of the National Gold Council of Excellence. Receiving this award for 16 consecutive years, and being one of eight schools in the entire country, should speak volumes to how amazing the members of the Student Union have been, and the traditions that have been continued for over 40 years,” Student Union President and LHS senior Benjamin Fox said. “At LHS and especially in regard to the Student Union, we all want to make a difference in the lives of our school and in the community making our school so unique from other districts and schools. The officers and I could not be prouder to represent our amazing school and community. The Student Union officers, members, and school are very honored to have received the 2021 Gold Council of Excellence Award for the 16th consecutive year!”

To meet the requirements for the National Council of Excellence Award, a student council must meet a variety of criteria. In addition to basic requirements such as a written constitution, regular meetings, a democratic election process, the councils have demonstrated successful sponsorship and participation in activities such as leadership development and service to the school and community. Councils awarded the gold level of the award have successfully demonstrated the highest levels of leadership.

The 2020-2021 Student Union Officers are President Benjamin Fox, Vice President Juliet Pastore, Treasurer Gabe Revelas, Corresponding Secretary Venska Cabraro and Recording Secretary Kalyn Kwasniewski.
